Domain Names
We assist local and foreign clients in securing and managing domain name rights in Thailand, with a particular focus on the registration and protection of country code top-level domain names (ccTLDs) under “.th” and “.co.th”. Our services are tailored to support brand owners, companies, and individuals navigating the regulatory and procedural requirements set by the Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC).
Registration of Third-Level ccTLDs
We provide end-to-end assistance for the registration of domain names under categories such as .co.th, .in.th, and .or.th, advising on eligibility, documentation, and naming rules. For .co.th domain names, we guide clients through choosing names based on company names or trademarks (Thai or foreign), and act as the local agent on record for foreign applicants. We prepare and submit the required supporting documents to ensure efficient and compliant registration with THNIC.
Registration of Second-Level .th domains
Since 2021, “.th” is available as a second-level domain (e.g., example.th) at a premium cost. We assist eligible applicants, such as Thai trademark owners or registered Thai entities, in preparing and submitting applications during the official registration windows held three times per year. We also provide cost-benefit guidance for those considering this premium option.
Handling foreign trademark and company name-based registrations
Foreign applicants without a local entity or Thai trademark must appoint a Thai-based agent. We routinely serve in this capacity and ensure that the correct Power of Attorney, trademark certificates, and authorization letters are filed. We also support applicants in creating and maintaining their THNIC accounts and meeting verification standards for approval.
Transfer and change of ownership
Our firm manages domain name transfers in cases such as trademark assignments, business restructurings, or when the foreign owner acquires a legal presence in Thailand. We handle the preparation of supporting documents and coordinate directly with THNIC to ensure a smooth transition of ownership.
Renewals and grace period management
We monitor domain name renewal deadlines and advise clients on the available renewal periods (from 1 to 10 years). If a renewal is missed, we help recover the domain during grace, hold, or redemption periods, and liaise with the registrar to avoid permanent loss of rights.
